What AviTrail Collects
AviTrail uses the photos and bird sound recordings you choose to identify bird species, compare likely candidates, create collection cards and sync observations to your account. Photos are made privacy-safe before identification to reduce hidden location and device details. Audio may be analyzed in time segments by our cloud identification provider. Media is not used for advertising or tracking.
If you enable location, AviTrail stores observation coordinates in your private collection. Public local league map sharing is optional and uses approximate cells or neighborhood labels, not exact latitude and longitude.
Account And Purchases
Firebase Auth is used for email/password accounts. Firestore stores user-scoped observations, bird cards and subscription entitlement state. RevenueCat is used to process subscription status from the App Store.
Photo And Audio Privacy
Raw media backup is off by default. Photos and sound recordings are sent for identification, then are not retained in AviTrail cloud storage unless you explicitly enable private media backup with AviTrail Premium. Backups use private, user-scoped Firebase Storage paths. Bird sound clips and raw photos are never published to public league feeds.
Usage Credits And Analytics
Signed-in free accounts receive five starter identifications and one identification per UTC day. We store credit counters and the current UTC day key to enforce this allowance. Firebase Analytics measures privacy-safe product events such as onboarding completion, identification success, candidate confirmation and purchase funnel steps. Analytics events do not include email, account UID, exact location, species names, free-form notes or raw media.
Corrections And Licensed Content
When you confirm, correct or reject a candidate, AviTrail may record an anonymous decision event to improve product quality. The encyclopedia can display taxonomy and media supplied by third parties. Source, author and license information is shown where content is used; content without a compatible commercial license is not packaged.
Data Sharing
AviTrail does not sell personal data. Data is shared with Firebase, RevenueCat and the bird identification provider only to operate account sync, analytics, purchases and species identification.
Delete Or Export
You can request account deletion, observation deletion or data export from support. Contact us from the support page below using the email address associated with your account.
